Transportation Services

Transportation Services

In 2011, Transportation Services made over 3,000 round trips to medical and other appointments for elderly and disabled individuals. Our fleet of CareVans is comprised of four vehicles, one of which is equipped with a wheelchair lift. The program is designed to provide Older Adults and disabled clients with a low-cost transportation option to ensure they can attend medical appointments, grocery stores, pharmacies, work, or to make attending events and programs at places like Hill Auditorium, The  Art Museum, Matthaei Botanical Gardens, etc. possible!

JFS carefully selects and hires caring, safe, and professional drivers to provide quality services including door-to-door escorted transportation to older adults needing personal assistance. For more information on the program, to schedule a ride or to inquire about fees please contact andre@jfsannarbor.org or call (734) 769-0209.

Recurring Appointments

Reservations can be made for recurring (standing) appointments and events up to one month in advance. Passengers must notify JFS 24 hours in advance of any changes in recurring appointments, otherwise the cancellation policy will apply. For reservations or more information, call 734.769.0209 during our regular business hours.

ABSOLUTELY NO TIPPING

Contributions to JFS in honor of the drivers are welcome. JFS thanks its supporters of Transportation Services: The Jewish Federation of Washtenaw County, Syma and Phillip Kroll, JFS Transportation Services Fund, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and MDOT.

Your contribution or bequest to JFS in support of our transportation program is greatly appreciated. Contact our Development Office at 734.769.0209.

Client Information

Only JFS clients may participate in the CareVan program. Prior to using the service, you must participate in a brief intake. This process includes completing an assessment and all required paperwork, including:

• Client Information Form

• Consent to Release Information Form

• Emergency contact information

• Current medical conditions and special needs

To ensure the safety of JFS CareVan passengers, client information forms will be updated on an annual basis. Clients are responsible for relating any changes in the above information to their caseworker by phone at (734)769-0209, or in writing.

Reservations

To ensure that our service runs smoothly, and to accommodate all of our clients’ needs, reservations for a JFS CareVan trip must be made at least one week in advance. JFS drivers cannot take reservations. Reservations can only be made by calling Jewish Family Services at (734) 769-0209  during regular business hours. Every effort will be made to honor reasonable requests.
